Staff Profiles

Susan J. Szwed, Esq.

Attorney Szwed graduated Cum Laude from the University of New Hampshire in 1978, with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Whitmore School of Business. She came to Portland, Maine from Massachusetts to attend the University of Maine School of Law from which she received a Juris Doctor in 1985.

Before forming this firm, Ms. Szwed was employed with a creditors' rights firm in Portland. She is licensed and has practiced in the Maine and Massachusetts State Courts, as well as the United States District Court for the District of Maine. She is a member of the Massachusetts and Maine Bar Associations and the American Bar Association.

Ms. Szwed has taught in the paralegal program at the University of Southern Maine and has addressed a number of business groups regarding creditors' rights issues.

Susan is a South Portland resident and loves the great outdoors. She enjoys hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, reading and foreign travel.

Kate Conley, Esq.

Originally from Bath, Maine, Attorney Conley graduated Cum Laude from Connecticut College in 1999 where she majored in Government and minored in Economics. After graduation, she moved to New York, New York, where she worked as a litigation paralegal and a case manager for a large law firm.

Attorney Conley received her law degree from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law in 2004. At UT she received the Class of 1962 Presidential Scholarship in Law. She was also an associate editor of the Texas Review of Law & Politics, and a member of the Federalist Society.

After graduating from law school, she returned to Maine and sat for the bar exam. The Maine Board of Bar Examiners awarded her the February 2005 Kenneth R. Clegg Award for Excellence. The award is given to the person with the highest combined score on the Maine Bar Examination in his or her first attempt.

Kate is a resident of Portland and enjoys reading, gourmet cooking, hiking and travel.
